Agile WMS is the jewel in BaubleBar Crown

Fast-growing, trend-led accessories brand BaubleBar improved their batch picking and single-item orders after switching to cloud-based SnapFulfil – for much higher throughput.

The New York-based company, which specializes in affordable yet desirable statement jewelry, recently abandoned its inflexible and expensive-to-modify Warehouse Management System (WMS) in favor of Synergy’s feature-rich and highly configurable SnapFulfil solution.

BaubleBar, which ships around 30,000 orders per month from its 40,000-square-foot distribution center, has achieved an outstanding 10x increase in its pick rate since implementing SnapFulfil, while maintaining 100 percent accuracy. In addition to successfully scaling its B2B and wholesale channels, the company has also seen e-commerce/D2C sales increase by up to 30%.

SnapFulfil’s “SPIM” is the preferred (and groundbreaking) form of functionality for Maritza Mejia, Senior Operations & Customer Care Director at BaubleBar, as it enables streamlined and highly accurate single order line processing of multiple products. It also works together with all other rules related to stock availability and picking priority.

Mejia says, “It quickly gave us incredible efficiencies and tangible workflow and volume gains. Our picking rate has quickly increased from 40 to 400 per hour, eliminating the previous bottlenecks and limitations of the old system.

“A Custom Made-to-Order (MTO) program also allows our warehouse workers to easily select unique items (without unique SKUs and retail tags) and, for the first time, track individual orders, inventory and fulfillment through the WMS. We’ve only started to scratch the surface, but with the real-time data now available, it will be our preferred business model and blueprint for the future, and will triple the size of our company.”

The implementation of BaubleBar was handled remotely, giving them further time, money and resource savings and also coinciding with a new ERP (NetSuite) and shopping cart – both of which are built right into SnapFulfil. Maritza and two members of her team were also trained to become Super Users so they could easily and effectively transfer their system and testing knowledge to new users and make the go-live as seamless as possible. As the big day approached, they even searched online for exceptions themselves.

Summarizes Mejia: “The digital implementation seems daunting and challenging at first, but the SnapFulfil team are very diligent and thorough and soon put our minds at ease. We went live and on schedule with basically less disruption and they were very aware of what we have, what can still be achieved and the process improvements that come with it. To me, that is the essence of a top-notch WMS system and service where nothing is too much trouble.

“They also have a very consultative approach and we were able to brainstorm with them and provide input on topics such as MTO mods and shelving. I also love that they are willing to roll SnapFulfil licenses up and down for us as we now have the demand and capacity during seasonal peak periods to scale from 15-20 to 100-150 users per day.”
