UK-based courier company DX has announced the opening of a new parcel depot in Basildon, Essex. This is the first of eight facilities the company plans to open by the end of June 2023.

DX will use its new Basildon depot to fulfill its customers’ next-day delivery orders for packages and documents. This fast delivery service, known as DX Express, is a branch of the company that was responsible for over a quarter of DX’s annual sales in 2021.

It will support an existing site in Harlow, primarily serving areas around Southend and Chelmsford.

DX intends to expand both its express and freight businesses and is currently in the second year of a group-wide investment program which is expected to invest £20-25m in new vehicles, equipment and technology.

Martin Illidge, Managing Director of DX Express, said: “A key element in the growth of our Parcels business has been our model of offering a higher quality, more local and personal service and we look forward to continued expansion which will support the group’s significant new investments .”
