EPG and DHL subsidiary cooperate on route planning software for logistics

The warehouse management software company Ehrhardt Partner Group (EPG) has announced a cooperation with the company Greenplan, which specializes in route planning management, in order to increase the efficiency of route planning in logistics.

The collaboration between the two is intended to support the expansion of EPG’s range of Transport Management Software (TMS), in particular the development of an algorithm for automatic route calculation and planning called Automatic Routing and Scheduling Solution.

EPG will present its solutions at booth 300 at IntralogisteX 2023, which is taking place in parallel with Robotics and Automation 2023.

“With the EPG, we can now offer not only perfect tour planning but also a complete TMS solution,” says Clemens Beckmann, Managing Director of Greenplan.

“That and EPG’s global presence will help us achieve our ambitious growth goals.”

In 2020, Beckmann and Florian Merget jointly founded Greenplan as a subsidiary of DHL.

The addition of route planning to the software company’s portfolio is the result of EPG’s previous collaboration with Greenplan on joint logistics projects. It also means that EPG customers can use Greenplan’s TMS, which should strengthen the market position of both.

Some of the resulting impacts on EPG’s product offering could include extending applications to use in transport services. An example of this could be the use of workforce management systems (WFM) by workers in the transportation industry or for field service management applications.

Greenplan cites EPG’s industry experience and software know-how as reasons for the collaboration.

The EPG is now planning to expand its TMS portfolio to include the use of a route calculation algorithm. Marco Ehrhardt, President of EPG: “We have been observing the market need for a modern and powerful TMS solution for some time.

“With the Greenplan solution, we have now found the ideal complement in the form of a unique and powerful algorithm that can be optimally integrated into our TMS.”
