GXO Logistics, a contract logistics provider, has announced plans to deploy most robotic solutions in a single quarter in the company’s history, ahead of an expected rush during the holiday season.
By the end of the year, GXO plans to implement approximately 7,600 technologies at customer sites around the world, including cobots and robots, vision scanners, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and goods-to-person robots. This is an increase of 50% compared to the same period last year.
“GXO is embracing more automation and robotics than ever because the benefits they provide are game-changing for our customers and our team members,” said Sandeep Sakharkar, GXO’s chief information officer.
“The technology we use makes warehouse operations safer, more productive, more efficient and more cost-effective in times of high inflation, while educating employees.”
Additionally, the logistics provider claims it’s using the technology — from machines that reduce waste by customizing cardboard packaging to sophisticated software to optimize inventory levels — to support its customers’ green ambitions.
As part of its commitment to technology and automation, GXO announced that it recently partnered with Sente Foundry, a Chicago-based venture capital firm focused on innovative technology startups, as well as an exclusive multi-year agreement with 6 River Systems – an exhibitor – signed at Intralogistex 2023, which will be held alongside Robotics and Automation 2023, to expand its cobot offering.
