GoFreight, a trucking software company, has secured $23 million in Series A funding from a number of investment firms.

The company wants to fill a gap in the market for easy-to-use software to replace the outdated technology currently used by many smaller shippers. GoFreight offers such companies an online shop front and a system for goods transport management.

It also combines tracking technology with accounting software so customers can monitor shipment progress and see how it’s affecting sales in real time.

Speaking to TechCrunch, GoFreight co-founder and chief executive Trenton Chen believes his software “can certainly help provide customers, importers and exporters with additional valuable information.”

Chen isn’t afraid to compete with big names in the industry, adding, “We’re trying to enable established companies to compete with Flexport. This is an approach to make this entire industry better and faster.”

Flexport connects companies at different stages of the supply chain and moves processes online. It has done this at scale, working with “recognizable” brands and companies since Flexport itself began as a startup almost a decade ago.
