Qatar Airways, the official airline of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ journey, marks a week ahead of the world’s biggest sports show, flying the Qatar national football team back home. The world’s top airline will also be flying in 140 FIFA Legends to compete in the FIFA Fans and Legends Tournament being held at the FIFA Fan Festival™ at Al Bidda Park.
The reigning AFC Asian Cup winners arrived in Doha after completing a training camp in Spain and was well prepared to take part in the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time. Qatar national football team will start their tournament game on November 20 with the opening match against Ecuador. The squad also face other opponents in Group A, including Senegal and the Netherlands.
Courtesy of Qatar Airways, FIFA is reaching out to all ticket holders with the chance to play for their national supporters team at the FIFA Supporters Tournament. Ticket holders must join the airline’s frequent flyer program, Privilege Club, for a chance to win.

The world’s premier airline has successfully completed the installation of a FIFA World Cup™ sticker on 120 aircraft, just in time for football’s biggest sporting event. The specially branded aircraft include 48 B777s, 31 B787s, 21 A320s, 12 A330s and eight A380s. The airline also operates three specially branded Boeing 777 aircraft, hand-painted in the livery of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
Football fans in Qatar are invited to visit the Qatar Airways Skyhouse, located at the FIFA Fan Festival™, during the tournament. Hosting a range of exciting activities including a unique zipline experience, an interactive Neymar Jr. challenge, a swing photo booth, a makeup booth, a Qverse experience and more.
Upon arrival at any of the eight matchday stadiums, guests are also invited to enjoy a variety of interactive football experiences and family-friendly games at the Qatar Airways stands in the Brand Activation Area.
Qatar Airways has also partnered with social media platform 433 “The Home of Football” for the duration of the tournament and will stream content featuring football legends from an interactive studio at Qatar Airways House, a city-only venue Invitation is accessible.
The tournament will be played in eight world-class stadiums designed to evoke symbols of Arabic culture. Al Bayt Stadium will host the opening game with a seating capacity of 60,000 while Lusail Stadium with a seating capacity of 80,000 will host the final game of the tournament. The remaining stadiums, including Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Education City Stadium, Stadium 974 and Al Thumama Stadium, will seat 40,000 spectators.
Qatar Airways and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) renewed their partnership agreement in November 2021, making the national airline of the State of Qatar partner with QFA through the 2022/23 season.
