The airline canceled 11% of its operations as a precaution to avoid being affected by the strikes called by the Stavla union
Vueling has canceled 64 flights scheduled for this Sunday due to the cabin crew strike; 28 of these are to/from El Prat Airport in Barcelona. The airline planned to operate a total of 497 flights this Sunday, 89% of the flights originally planned, after precautionary cancellations of some routes not protected by minimum services decreed by the Department of Transport.
The Stavla union, the majority in the crew, called strikes every Friday, Sunday and Monday until January. A mobilization calendar that promises to impact the holiday season.
In a statement, the IAG Group airline said 83% of flights in Barcelona were operating normally (135 out of 163), meaning a total of 28 flights were pre-emptively canceled due to the disruptions. The Catalan capital is one of the cities most affected by work stoppages in terms of volume, being Vueling’s main base of operations across Spain.
