Tiger delivers 100 curtainsiders to Maritime

Maritime Transport, the UK’s leading provider of integrated road and rail solutions, has turned to Tiger Trailers for its latest order of curtainsiders, based on the manufacturer’s reputation for quality products, efficiency and a customer-centric approach. The new trailers were manufactured on schedule and entirely in Tiger’s state of the art facility and have been put into service across the UK.

Paul Heyhoe, Maritime Transport Fleet Director, comments: “We are delighted to have placed our first order with Tiger Trailers, who have met our schedules and specifications at a time when production schedules are being delayed in various industries. The new trailers are a welcome addition to our fleet and will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to our sales department and ensure they are prepared for the significant growth we have seen in new contracts.”

Maritime Transport’s one hundred 13.6m Tiger curtainsiders incorporate various EN 12642 XL rated body components, feature a free span pillarless roof design and have been developed to meet the company’s exacting requirements through specific components including two rear strap bags , a special load restraint, TIR cable, tool box and SAF drum brake axles. Most feature Keruing hardwood floors, while ten have phenolic non-slip plywood surfaces.

Stephen Pollock, Tiger Trailers Business Development Director, said: “Here at Tiger we are delighted to welcome Maritime Transport as a customer after their decision to place this order with us for 100 curtainsider semi-trailers. It has been an absolute pleasure to have developed a close working relationship with Paul Heyhoe and his colleagues and we look forward to supporting them in the future.”

Maritime’s trailer fleet includes curtainsiders with various openings, some equipped with tail lifts to suit their different duties, as well as chassis in both sliding and fixed versions, tippers, generator sets and goosenecks. They are towed by over 1,600 tractor units including Scania, Volvo and Mercedes, all of which meet Euro 6 emission standards and are LEZ compliant. Maritime was named Road Freight Company of the Year at the 2022 Multimodal Awards held in June. Since the introduction of the “Road Freight Transport” category in 2016, the company has been the proud winner four times.

Tiger Trailers is approaching its 10th year in business and has grown rapidly to become one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of articulated lorries and rigid bodies, building the full range from curtainsiders and panel vans to fixed and moveable double deckers, flatbeds, skeletons and other special trailers as well as swap bodies and temperature-controlled trailers. The customer portfolio essentially includes household brands, large parcel operators and freight forwarders. Supported by a training program and multi-shift production, Tiger is able to offer competitive building sites. The company also offers financing and leasing, as well as an OEM and general parts service.
