Global property developer Trammell Crow Company has submitted a planning application to Rochdale Borough Council for the development of a site on Manchester Road Heywood.

The application is for a 27.8 acre property on which a 45,755 ft2 logistics facility will be developed in three units used for warehousing and distribution and office space.

The developer has worked with Rochdale Borough Council and local stakeholders for the pre-application process and have presented a plan that aims to re-profile the site.

Once developed, the site could create around 600 jobs when completed.

390 workers are to deliver the building in 13 months. The project aims for BREEAM Excellent certification and will give the site “increased biodiversity” through a comprehensive landscape plan.

The site is within one mile of junction 19 of the M62, four miles from three major motorways (M60, M62 and M66) and an hour’s drive from the Port of Liverpool, Manchester Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport.

Mike Forster, Head of UK Logistics at Trammell Crow Company said: “Following the acquisition of this site earlier this year, we are excited to reach this milestone to begin the site transformation.”
